Sealants, Plastics, Chemical

This tests the true strength of the sealant and how well it adheres to the materials if is intended to be used with. The sealants undergo the usual 28 laboratory conditioning and possible dry heat/cool water cycling before being stuck in a tensile machine and pulled apart. The force required and the distance the sealant stretches before breaking is recorded. From the data, either the secant modulus is calculated or the extension at the breaking point and the break assessed.
